The Trustees of The Mercian Trust have announced some changes in the Trust Board. Philip Sturrock, who became Chair of the Shadow Board prior to the legal establishment of the Trust, will stand down in July 2019. The Trust Board is engaged in a search for a new CEO to start in September 2019 and a change of Chair at this point will provide a welcome alignment of time horizons.

The Board has elected Will Hodson, currently Vice-Chair of the Trust and Chair of Aldridge LGB, as its new Chair. On taking up this role in July 2019, Mr Hodson will step down from the Aldridge Governing Body.

The Reverend Beverley Boden, has joined the Board of Trustees adding to the governance experience in the Primary sector. Bev is both a Finance Director for a business group in Nuneaton and Minister at Aldridge Methodist Church. She is also a former Chair of Governors at Lower Farm Primary School.

The Trustees consider that orderly and effective succession planning is an essential part of their commitment to the pursuit of excellence for Walsall’s children and young people. In addition, the Trustees are currently seeking to strengthen their experience in the alternative provision sector.
