Our Trust is proud to announce that our Chair of Trustees, Mr Kevin Davis, has been appointed as Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands. In this role Kevin will support the Lord-Lieutenant – His Majesty’s personal representative in the West Midlands – in several ways including attending on Royalty during official visits to the county, representation at citizenship ceremonies, supporting the armed forces of the Crown particularly the reserve and cadet forces, encouraging charitable and voluntary work and local initiatives to benefit the community, as well as promoting and encouraging nominations for Honours and the King’s Awards for the County of the West Midlands.
This prestigious role is a testament to Kevin’s unwavering dedication to public service and commitment to the betterment of our community. He has been instrumental in steering The Mercian Trust in its social mobility and social justice mission by increasing opportunities and improving outcomes for young people in Walsall and Sandwell.
Kevin has for many years pioneered invaluable partnerships between education providers and employers to ensure young people are equipped with the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in the world of work. Under his leadership, the trustee board have overseen the growth and development of The Mercian Trust, the many successes of our schools. and most importantly our students.
The Mercian Trust celebrates this appointment as a recognition of Kevin’s significant contributions to education and the community at large. His passion for creating pathways to success for young people – especially disadvantaged students and those more likely to face discrimination – underpins the work of our Trust and our schools.
We will be celebrating Kevin’s appointment as Deputy Lieutenant with students from all our schools in the summer term.
