Our University of Birmingham Partnership

The Mercian Trust and the University of Birmingham. A unique, in-depth partnership for educational equity and social justice based in co-produced teaching and research.

The pioneering spirit and shared social values of our two organisations form the bond that underpins this official partnership. Our vision is that this research-led approach to educational equity will bring about significant impact; locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally - creating a fairer world for all students.

There are currently three projects in-flight.

Project 1 - Students

A student-led research project conducted over our diverse family of schools with expert leadership provided by professionals from the University of Birmingham.

You can hear two of our student researchers interviewing Professor Lee Elliot-Major on the first episode of our Equity in Education Podcast.

Project 2 - Leadership

A forthcoming trust leadership development programme - the first of its kind! More information coming soon.

Project 3 - Inclusion

A project to development significant developments and policy in the crucial area of SEND and inclusion. This project is going to launch later this academic year.
